Frequently asked questions

When does watermochi launch?

Very soon on Google Play. Testers who sign up here get the app first, then we tell the whole list on launch day.

How much water should I drink a day?

It depends on your body, the weather and how active you are. Europe’s food safety authority (EFSA) suggests about 1.6 L of drinks a day for women and 2 L for men, a little more when pregnant or breastfeeding; food brings the rest of your water. US references (National Academies) count food too, at about 2.7 L of total water a day for women and 3.7 L for men. watermochi starts from these references, and you can set your own goal at any time.

Do coffee and tea count?

Yes. Tea and coffee also count towards your fluid intake, as the NHS reminds us. In watermochi you log them like any other drink, and Mochi drinks them with you.

How can I remember to drink water?

Keep a bottle in sight, have a glass with each meal, and let a reminder nudge you in between. watermochi reminds you at the hours you choose, and stays quiet if you just drank or if it’s too late.

Does watermochi work offline?

Yes. Tracking, reminders, stats and the quiz work without a connection. Only the optional Friends feature needs the internet.

Is it really free?

Yes. Tracking, reminders, stats, quizzes and friends are free, with no ads. Premium is optional and only adds fun: more Mochi, themes and backgrounds.

What about iPhone?

We’re starting with Android. iPhone may come later: sign up to hear about it.

What happens to what I drink?

Your log stays on your phone. The Friends account is optional and only shares what you choose. Everything is explained in our privacy policy.

How do I become a tester?

Tick “I want to test” in the form and sign up with the email of your Google account, the one on your Play Store. You’ll get an invitation to install the app from the Play Store, like any other app.

Does watermochi replace medical advice?

No. watermochi helps you build a good habit, but it doesn’t replace advice from a health professional. If a carer has set you a fluid limit, turn on the limit mode: Mochi follows it instead of pushing you to drink.
